Professor Blair Wolf and graduate student Richard Ramirez are co-authors on a new paper in Science Magazine entitled "Exposure to climate change drives stability or collapse of desert mammal and bird communities." The paper used historical data to evaluate small mammal and bird responses to periods of drought and warming and found that birds are exhibited larger impacts than mammals, probably due to the ability of small mammals to avoid extreme conditions by burrowing into the soil.
