Research Interests:

Our research aims to unravel the molecular mechanisms of neural diversity—from stem cells to neural circuits. We use Drosophila as a model organism to investigate (1) How temporally expressed transcription factors, and RNA-binding proteins specify cell identity and connectivity; (2) How glial cell types form and what is there function in the central brain; and (3) How growth hormone and nutrition regulates brain development and function. Our studies combine genetics, genomics, biochemistry, cell biology, high-resolution cellular imaging, and behavioral analysis.
