Convocation—Graduation Celebration

The Biology Department holds a Graduation Celebration each year; this academic year, it will be on Saturday, May 11, 2013. If you have earned a degree between August of one year and August the following year, we would like you and your family to be a part of our celebration. Biology's Convocation is held following the 9:00 a.m. general UNM Commencement at the University Arena ("the Pit"), which all graduates and their guests are encouraged to attend. The UNM program includes an address by a major state or national figure and the presentation of honorary degrees; all graduates process across the stage to be recognized individually and to be given a diploma cover (diplomas are not ready until about two months after graduation).

Biology's Graduation Celebration is held in the mall east of the Biology Building (Castetter Hall). You are most welcome to have someone special (parents, husband/wife) accompany you to the podium to accept congratulations for earning your Biology degree. The schedule is:

12:15 p.m.
Participating Biology graduates (but not family members) meet in Biology Room 100 in caps and gowns.
1:00–2:00 p.m.
Biology Convocation Ceremony—Presentation of students and individual recognition of all B.A., B.S., M.S. & Ph.D. degree recipients.
2:00 p.m.–
Open House and Refreshments at the Biology Building.

Your attendance at this ceremony is a perfect way to celebrate your association with the Biology Department. Help us establish a tradition by joining your family, friends and colleagues at our Annual Biology Graduation Celebration!

In the semester you will graduate, be sure to sign up well ahead of time for Biology's Convocation by registering yourself on the UNM's graduation web page.
