Dr. Kimran Buckholz receives 2025 Marshall Curriculum Award

Dr. Kimran Buckholz, Principal Lecturer III in Biology, received the 2025 Marshall Curriculum Award for her project, "Partnering with ABQ BioPark Zoo to Create a Transformative Research Experience at UNM". Dr. Buckholz developed her course, BIOL 455/555 Ethology: Animal Behavior, by strengthening the longitudinal field research experience in the course by partnering with the ABQ BioPark Zoo. The Marshall Curriculum Award honors Biology Deparment Professor Emerita Dr. Diane L. Marshall and her career-long commitment to improving the classroom experience of UNM students.
Dr. Buckholz also won the College of Arts & Sciences Assessment Grant (2025), with Dr. Kelly Howe: Elevating UNM STEM: Creating Community of Practice, Assessing STEM students, and Developing a Student Success Resource.
They are collaborating with colleagues across UNM to create a UNM STEM Student Success Resource that targets wellness/growth mindset/building community, time management and metacognition, note-taking and reading hacks, active studying and retrieval, and test prep. Read more here.
