Remarks: The description of this species is only marginally useful; it is retained as a valid species only because modest mensural data for the oocyst and sporocysts and an original line drawing were given. Yakimoff and Gousseff (1936a) described E. transcaucasica from Bufo bufo; their description is almost identical to their earlier description of Eimeria mazzai. Thus, E. transcaucasica is considered the same species.
