Site Description

This tower (34.438450 N, -106.237694 W) is located in central New Mexico on an extensive mesa at 2100 m elevation approximately 25 km south of Mountainair, NM, owned by the Heritage Land Conservancy.  The mean annual temperature at this site is 14.8 C and mean annual precipitation is 418 mm (1980-2003).  The dominant tree species, Pinus edulis and Juniperus monosperma make up >95% of the area’s tree cover.  The dominant herbaceous plant at the site is the C4 perennial grass Bouteloua gracilis

This tower is currently funded by the USFS. It has been operational since November 2007.
