Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA)
  • SRAC Funding new window
    • WHAT: Up to $500 per academic year. Generally, a total of $8,000 in the fall, $9,000 in the spring, $3,000 in the summer are given out.
    • WHEN: Usually due by Noon,5th Friday of Spr/Fall/Summer semesters, but check the application for exact deadlines.
    • FOR: Research related to the completion of a degree, other research of interest to the applicant, trips to conferences.

  • Specialized Travel (ST) Funding new window
    • WHAT: up to $300 per academic year
    • WHEN: same as SRAC: noon, 5th Friday of Spr/Fall/ Summer semesters.
    • FOR: Travel expenses *not* covered under the SRAC grants. This includes travel to interviews, clinicals, anything that is *not* classified as a conference.

  • Projects Funding new window
    • WHAT: Up to $500
    • WHEN: Any time
    • FOR: Events that promote graduate student involvement and other endeavors that benefit the professional growth of graduate students. This includes, but is not limited to lectures, workshops, symposia and cultural events. Will not fund salaries, class or course projects, capital aquisitions, including equipment, party-affiliated political or religious groups, or ongoing events previously funded two times by the Projects Committee.

  • Graduate Research and Development (GRD) Funding new window
    • WHAT: up to $5,000 for high-priority projects, $2,500 for general research projects
    • WHEN: See online application information
    • FOR: Graduate and professional level research projects which have a direct impact on New Mexico's communities.
    • HOW: Info and application online.

Office of Graduate Studies (OGS)
  • Research Project Travel Grants new window
    • WHAT: up to $1,000 per academic year.
    • WHEN: Fall and Spring Fuding, see website and/or application for exact deadlines.
    • FOR: Research and project expenses (such as materials and equipment), and /or travel expenses (to collect data, to attend seminars, colloquia, conferences, professional meetings, libraries or other research facilities in or out of the country) for which a genuine need is demonstrated.

  • Departmental Nominated Funds
    • Graduate Dean's Dissertation Fellowship new window
      • WHAT: $8,000 for 9 months. No tuition or fees.
      • WHEN: 5:00 p.m. late Feb/early March, check application for exact dates.
      • FOR: To provide one year financial assistance to students nearing completion of a terminal (PhD, EdD, or MFA) degree. Five fellowships are awarded annually.

      • TO: Students in the process of writing the dissertation, and anticipate completion by the end of the following year.

    • Graduate Scholarship Program new window
      • WHAT: $7,500 over 2 semesters.
      • WHEN: March. Check the website for exact times and dates.
      • FOR: Living stipend.

      • TO: New Mexico residents who are members of groups that are underrepresented in one's field and that need financial assistance.

    • NM Graduate Scholars Award new window
      • WHAT: In-state tuition for up to nine credit hours per semester for Fall and Spring
      • WHEN: anytime between Jan and May. Biology Application deadline: usually 5 pm early March, in Biology Chair's mailbox. Check application and website for exact deadlines.
      • FOR: in-state tuition for up to nine hours of graduate study during each the Fall and Spring semesters
